On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1.Critically reflect on key principles, philosophies and approaches that underpin the care of patients requiring acute or persistent pain management, oncology, palliative and end of life care;
2.Critically examine the role of nursing as part of the interprofessional team in pain management, oncology, palliative and end of life care;
3.Outline the pathophysiology related to pain, oncology and palliative conditions.
4.Describe the use of pharmacological and evidence-based complementary therapy options for management in pain, oncology, palliative and end of life care treatment and the common effects experienced by patients receiving related therapies.
5.Discuss the mental health considerations when providing care for individuals experiencing pain and receiving oncology treatment, palliative or end of life care
6.Apply knowledge of legal and ethical considerations to advanced care planning, advocacy and guardianship.
